AM I ENOUGH?

Am I Enough?

Do you ever have that thought?

As a mother and wife, I have that thought often. Doubt starts to creep in and I start telling myself that I don’t do enough crafts with the kids, or that I don’t take them to enough parks. That I don’t do enough with my husband or give him enough of my attention. I’m not put together enough… blah blah blah. Those are all lies that the enemy wants me to believe.

So, what do we do to get ourselves out of the funk that the enemy can get us in? To be honest I’m not 100% sure and can find myself stuck in ruts for an uncomfortably long time but there are some great verses that I cling to in those times. I’d like to share them with you in hopes that they can help you too in those moments where you feel surrounded by darkness.

8 Verses for when you need a pick me up

Genesis 1:27

Ephesians 2:10

John 16:33

Proverbs 3:5-6

Isaiah 40:31

Isaiah 41:10

Joshua 1:9

Psalm 46:1-3

Each of these verses are fantastic reminders for us when we need some encouragement, but I’d really like to talk more about three of them. First and foremost, I want to start at the beginning of the word of God…

  • Genesis 1:27 – The Lord says that we were created in His image. That alone should prove to our doubts that we are not only enough, but we are MORE than enough because we are made in the image of our Savior. And we all know that God DOES NOT make mistakes. When the enemy starts to tell us of all the things that we “aren’t” we can fire back at him and use this verse as a sword knowing that we are over and above what he tells us we are because WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD!!

  • John 16:33 – OH MY! How powerful is this scripture right!? This one really hits home for me. I want to share the entire verse with you… “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (NIV). What better encouragement then that? What a wonderful reminder for us. The Lord started this verse by telling us that he wants us to have peace, then directly told us that we would have suffering in this world but ended the verse by saying He has conquered the world. Jesus dies on the cross for ALL our sins, He took all our pain and suffering onto Himself. He knows exactly what we are going through/could go through. He knows ALL our struggles, but the battle has already been won! We live in a sinful world, so pain and suffering are inevitable. Bu when those times come, turn to you Father for strength and peace. He longs to give that to us! He is our immovable rock! Which leads me to the next set of scripture that I’d like to highlight.

  • Psalm 46:1-3 – These verses are so beautiful and poetic to me. The very first sentence says, “God is our refuge and strength”. Following up with “A helper who is always found in times of trouble.” I want to emphasize the word always. I think it’s important to note. It doesn’t matter if we are in a season of highs or a season of lows whenever we may need to seek shelter He is always there. Whenever we need support He is always there. Anytime, anywhere. He’s just a prayer away.

So, if you find yourself in a slump know you’re not alone. I think it’s safe to say most of the people around you have been there too. Make connections with people that you can turn to in times of trials, find verses that help you, but most important press closer into the Lord. He can and will provide you with the help and love that you need.

Father God thank you for being our provider. Thank you for never being far from us. When the enemy tries to lead us astray I pay that we rebuke his attempts and that we continue to speak light into our own lives and those lives around us. Father I pray for anyone reading this that if they find themselves feeling discouraged or questioning their worth that they know YOU are always with them. That they can find strength and comfort in you. I pray for blessings over each person, that it be over and abundant in their lives. Amen.
